Photograph graffiti on a historic headstone before any cleaning, as National Park Service guidance calls for documentation and assessment of both the graffiti and the underlying material. For a stone in Rhode Island, notify the cemetery and include those photos in your restoration quote request so we can review its condition and discuss next steps.
